Kickstarter is a funding clearing house to some truly awesome-cool projects. One that recently caught my eye is the Nifty MiniDrive, a bespoke caddie for a microSD card that’s designed to stay in your Mac semi-permanently. The caddie sits flush with the Mac’s case so there’s no risk of it snagging on laptop sleeves. There are versions for the MacBook Pro, Air and the clumsily-named MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
I love the idea of having additional gigabytes of solid-state storage that can supplement my SSD and provide a home for downloads and other temporary files. It can even serve as a Time Machine backup disk, albeit a small one.
Anyway, I pledged some cash to the project and expect to take delivery of my Nifty MiniDrive later this year. I can hardly wait.
